Common questions

Do I need to speak the local language to get an architecture job in Europe?

Not always: 29% of the 4,033 live ads here list no explicit local-language requirement, and every ad is language-classified so you can filter. International studios and larger firms work in English most often; small local practices usually expect the local language. Your portfolio can always be in English.

Why use this instead of LinkedIn or Indeed?

Because most studio jobs never reach the big portals: they get posted on the professional chambers’ boards, the studios’ own careers feeds and national job APIs — the sources this site reads directly, every morning. And the parts the portals won’t do: no login, every ad language-classified, duplicates collapsed into one listing, dead ads set aside daily.

Is filtering to English-only realistic, or will I find nothing?

1% of live ads are confirmed English-OK (the ad is in English or asks for it), and it varies a lot by market — right now the most English-friendly countries with real volume are United Kingdom (100%), Romania (92%), Italy (83%). The numbers update daily, so check the country pages for today’s picture.

What does “live” actually mean here?

An ad counts as live only if it was seen on its source in this morning’s crawl. Ads that vanish are set aside the same day (their page stays up briefly with a “position closed” banner, clearly marked), and the same vacancy arriving via two sources or two URLs is collapsed into one listing. No padding, no backfilling.

How much do architects earn in Europe?

Across the 622 live ads that disclose pay, advertised salaries run €22.5k–€47.5k gross per year, median €35k — with big differences between countries. The salary pages and calculator break it down by country, city and seniority.

When do European architecture studios hire?

Around two waves: September (post-summer, new budgets) and January. Most studios never advertise at all — they hire from speculative applications sent directly, which is what the studio directory and the guide are built for.

Where do these jobs come from?

From employers' own careers feeds, the professional chambers' boards, official national job APIs and EURES — refreshed every morning. Every ad links straight to the employer; no login, no paywall, no intermediation.
